Enjoy some of Prague's finest beer. The most popular beer here is Gambrinus. However, it’s not universally recognised as the best. Kozel’s Medium, a pale lager, won the prize for the best Czech beer at the Research Institute of Brewing & Malting awards in 2008. Many locals, meanwhile, claim that Pilsner Urquell is the best of the bunch, with Czechs from Pilsen insisting that the water quality in their home city means that their pilsner is superior to those produced anywhere else in the country.
Czech Beer in Prague: Pilsner Urquell, Budvar/Budweiser, Staropramen & Kozel
Pilsner Urquell: Most Czech beers are lagers, brewed naturally from hand-picked hops. Czechs like their beer at cellar temperature with a creamy, tall head. When ordering draught beer ask for “male pivo” (10 oz) or “pivo” (17 oz). The best known Czech beer is Pilsner Urquell, brewed in the town of Plzen and exported worldwide. Many Czechs also drink another Plzen brew, Gambrinus, while Bernard from Eastern Bohemia was recently voted best beer of the year. #Prague #Beer #Pilsner_Urquell
