Food Chain Collage

This was a collaborative project I did with one of the Science teachers at my school. He was teaching his kids about food chains and wanted an art project to go along with it. He found THIS image via Pinterest as initial inspiration for the project. UPDATE: The poster was designed by art director Dhanashri Ubhayakar. I turned the digital image into a collage project using construction paper. I used 12 x 18" construction paper. Have a background colour (in my case, turquoise). Then start with…

Animal Research Projects

I have been so proud of the 2nd grade for their hard work over the last several weeks! I thought I would share some of the great work they have produced. First, the students picked an animal that they wanted to research. We then used a class set of Ipads to do our week-long research. I used the following paper found on TPT: I had them research 5 different topics for their animal: habitat, body, diet, life cycle, and a fun fact. After the week of research, we began our animal pyramid. We…

Art-Science Integration: Food Chains and Food Webs

I love integrating Art into our Science lessons! I always try to include activities that address a variety of learning styles, because each student learns differently. And I think Art does the trick. We've been learning about food chains and to put my students' knowledge to use, I decided to get them to create food chains of their choice. This is what the final result looks like: For this activity, I divided my class into small groups and gave them a printable of animal clipart. Next, they…
