Pipe bag, Sioux. Buckskin, with broad beaded band on both faces: hourglass design blue on red ground. Pendant of quilled rawhide strips, design two triangles with their bases at sides, mottled blue and yellow on red field. University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology.

South Dakota | Pine Ridge Reservation. Buckskin. Large; decorated with dyed porcupine quills. Upper two-thirds sewed into buckskin in red, white and purple lines. Some pendants of red down attached with metal bangles. At base, square of rawhide strips covered with quills in pink, white, orange and purple. Long buckskin fringe at bottom. Designs differ to front and back. Those on one side very much faded; other side slightly. Length 105 cm. Width 25 cm. Purchased from Robert Frazier, 1939. Penn Mus.

Red stroud with buckskin at one end, heavily quilled, blue and yellow lines. Horned head in red quilling, two vertical rows of wool tufts, end of buckskin slit, quill-wrapped. Length 160 cm. Width 22.5 cm. Penn Mus.
