some of our favorites for ‘small moment narratives’ include sheila rae’s peppermint stick by kevin henkes, fireflies by julie brinckloe, and shortcut by donald crews; both my best friend by mary rodman and when the relatives came by cynthia rylant have perfect small moment stories inside the longer narrative, too. (p.s. we’re not playing genre favorites- it’s just that you’ll probably start the year with narrative writing!)
