Amber Room Catherine Palace, Tsarskoe Selo, outside Saint Petersburg, Russia. The room was a gift to Peter the Great from the German royals in the 18th c. It was looted by the Nazis during WWII, and was dismantled and shipped to Germany, lost, it seems, forever. A replica was rebuilt using drawings, paintings, and one photograph. It can now be visited.
