Hoya cumingiana Decne. 1844 was classified by the French botanist Joseph Decaisne (1807 – 1882) and named in honour to “the Prince of Collectors” Hugh Cuming (1791 – 1865), an English naturalist and conchologist, who discovered the tropical plant at the island of Mindoro during his expedition to the Philippines from 1836 until 1839. The beautiful Hoya species is widley spread all over the Philippine islands.
