Butcher shop, in which Jozef Gabčík tried to hide after the assassination of Heydrich. Brauner, owner of the shop  (he was a German and had Gestapo man kinsman) immediately betrayed shelter of Gabčík to Heydrich's driver Johannes Klein, who pursued him. Exchange of fire began. Klein was wounded, Gabčík escaped.

May 1945, Prague: Retreating SS troops after an agreement with local resistance for safe passage. On May 9, one day after this photo was taken, the Red Army arrived as "liberator." US recon troops already in the suburbs were ordered NOT to help the resistance due to a political agreement with Stalin. Even the good guys make terrible mistakes that cost rivers of innocent blood.
