A classic DK weight baby cardigan with elegant features and classic styling. Quick to knit, I have taken a basic cardigan shape and modified it to minimise seams and bulk of fabric. The back is worked to length to the armhole and then to numbers of row in the armhole to be sure that the button placement falls perfectly on the fronts. Three buttons placed in considered positions mean that baby’s chest keeps warm but there is enough ease to let their other clothes be seen. The shoulders are joined in a three needle bind-off then the sleeves are picked-up and knit downwards, with a clever shaping technique to make sure the sleeves are wide enough without having so much fabric that the baby is swamped. Instructions are given for the cuff to be worked flat or in the round, thus eliminating the cuff seam which often looks too bulky. The instructions have been written for even beginner knitters to understand but the finished cardigan is a piece worthy of experienced knitters.
