Many meteorites have been traced to the Moon or Mars, but this the first thought to have come from Mercury. It has been dated as 4.56 billion years old, and has the least magnetic flux of any rock currently known to scientists.

In the year 2000, a 2,211 lbs. meteorite was discovered near Fukang, a city located in the NW region of Xinjiang, China. Named the ‘Fukang meteorite‘, it was identified as a pallasite, a type of stony–iron meteorite, with striking olivine crystals throughout.
