Pull ups vs Chin ups The pecs and biceps are used more actively during supinated-grip pull-ups than during the pronated-grip. The pronated-grip pull-up has greater activation of the lower trapezius than the supinated-grip. Many believe that the "chin-up" only uses your chest and biceps, but the first movement of the pull-up always requires your back muscles. Both pull-up types use the same muscles and there is not much of a difference. The same muscles are activated but at different strengths.
You probably don’t need us to tell you that the pull-up is just about the toughest bodyweight exercise there is. If you’ve ever attempted to knock out a set in the gym, or just pull yourself up over a wall out in the real world, you’ll know the demands it places on your back, shoulder and arm muscles. In the back it’s the lats, traps and rhomboids that bear the brunt of the effort, while you can challenge different parts of your arms by changing your grip.
The Hanging Leg Raise is one of the best exercises for developing abdominal and core strength. Raising your legs engages all of your abdominal muscles, including the lower abs—making makes the exercise better than Crunches, which only engage the upper abs. To add another dimension to this challenging exercise, you can also strengthen your obliques by performing leg circles. Plus, hanging from a bar strengthens your grip and forces you to balance and stabilise throughout the movement.
