photography - František Vobecký

Czech artist Frantisek Vobecky, born in 1902, studied painting before discovering photography in 1928. First, he used photography for the documentation of his paintings. Then he started to photograph random objects as well as parts of stones and sculptures. He specialized in creating still lifes out of simple objects. In 1935, he started to explore photomontages and Surrealism, both being omnipresent in the Czechoslovak avant-garde.
