No. 523, Downy Chick, c. 1870-1875, Olana Collection Spring has sprung! Here is a sketch Frederic Church made of a downy chick from the barn. The sweet nature of the bird is how he came up with a nickname for his daughter Isabel, who he referred to as “Downie”. The barn is now the Wagon House Education Center where we hold many of our educational programs for families!
