Bonney/Billy the Kid made his way back to the relative safety of his old haunts at Fort Sumner, New Mexico in late 1879 where he reunited with one of his most reliable buddies, Charlie Bowdre and another former Regulator, Doc Scurlock. Together they went back into the rustling business.
