When the probe droids made their mysterious appearance in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes back, first as thousands of meteor-looking vessels shooting from beneath a Star Destroyer, I couldn't be anything but intrigued by their many arms and eyes and their strangely coded language. The probe droids were out of this world and technologically advanced in many ways, but simultaneously left a great deal to the imagination, which I find to be one of the greatest concepts of the original trilogy.
