The Green Broadbill (Calyptomena viridis) is a small bird in the broadbill family. The bird is about 17 cm long, plumaged in brilliant green with a black ear patch, widely-gaped bill, rounded head, short tail and three black bars on each wing. The beak itself is very weak and almost hidden by the crest above it. Both sexes are similar. The female is duller and has no black markings on its ear patch and wing coverts.

Tuxedo breeds are not sexable by appearance and will have to be vent-sexed to determine gender. Ideally, this is performed at 8-10 weeks of age. Maturity is reached at 10 weeks of age and adult birds will weigh 8.7 - 9.4 ounces. Hens will begin laying at 10 weeks of age and yearly production will be 290-320 speckled eggs. Eggs will weigh approximately 13.3-13.7 grams.
Jumbo White Coturnix Quail Hatching Eggs. The Jumbo White Coturnix Quail are an excellent option for homesteaders due to laying the largest eggs as well as being the same size as the largest meat breed. #quail #hatchingquaileggs #hatchingeggs #meyerhatchery #selfsufficiency

Horned Lark. My first sighting consisted 8/10 of finding the bird! I heard and recognized but didn't identify the calls coming from a farm field. I just knew the calls sounded like those of a prairie bird. Eventually my eye caught movement and I used my camera to seek out the several larks! They are impossible to see if you don't hear first.
