Just sipping a cup of loose leaf tea from @arborteas wearing my fav tee from @amourvert vert which planted a tree while in my tree house which honestly just gives a whole new meaning to golden hour. I can't wait to decorate this baby with house plants and give y'all a tour. On a scale of 1-10 how excited are you?? I'm a solid 10. Should I break it up room by room or do it in one fell swoop? But, here's a sneak peek of the third floor loft. Just enough space for two to snuggle. And, In case
Have you visited a landfill? I think everyone should at some point. It's so incredibly eerie. Stuff left behind, broken, and rotting. Everyone of those things were touched by humans they had pasts and stories. Tables where meals were served. A playhouse someone grew out of. A nightstand, a TV, and so much more. It really makes you examine your relationship with stuff. It increased my resolve to be a responsible owner to make sure that I'm caring and maintaining the things I own. #goingz

Weekly produce haul from @imperfectproduce. I signed up when I was traveling and moving and unable to market on Saturday for 6+ weeks. With @imperfectproduce sometimes I get things wrapped in plastic, but this food was saved from going to the landfill. In the big picture, I'd much rather have a little bit of plastic than see perfectly good food going to waste. But, I do miss going to the farmers market. I miss the human connection of getting to chat with my farmers. I miss...
How do you deal with friends and family that just don't get you? Maybe they make snippy remarks about your choices under their breath, roll their eyes, or even tell you what you're doing doesn't matter. How do you handle these people?? I have tips and scripts (got to bring it back to my theatre roots, ya know!) on the blog today because a reader wrote in with this exact question. I would love to know how you handle these situations? I feel really fortunate that my friends...
Have you ever had a life changing trip? The summer of 2010 was pretty life changing for me. I spent three weeks hiking several national parks with my grandma. It was epic. It was definitely the kick off for my what would eventually become my zero waste journey. Bryce canyon was by far my favorite! I was thinking about this trip as I was writing my most recent post with tips for downsizing and decluttering. (Link in profile) I don't particularly love living in our tiny home...
When I first started going zero waste, I was broke. Justin and I had just moved out to California, and we were both artists. A lot of zero waste switches we had already made simply out of necessity. I have been making my own cleaning products for almost a decade. I dabbled in DIY cosmetics with the dawn of Pinterest back in 2010. I started cooking from scratch out of college because it was cheaper and dairy is in A LOT of processed foods. (I'm allergic) I shopped exclusively...
It can be hard to reduce waste when traveling because you're out of your routine and have limited space for reusables. But, I find a mason jar and a little bit of confidence will take you far! Mason jar works for iced lattes, snacks on the road, a water bottle, and a to-go container for leftovers. Seriously, what can't a mason jar do?? I'm in Atlanta for my dad's retirement ceremony. Any Atlanta recommendations for me? My number one stop is always @mellowmushroom ❤️ My great grandfath
A small market haul! Allergies are killing both Justin and me and our appetites along with it. Going to pick up a loaf of bread later today because I see lots of toast in our future. I also plan on making a big quiche with broccolini, onions, and cherry tomatoes. Serve with a little side salad. It's a lunch that's easy to pack! Justin works late sometimes till 9 so our eating schedules don't match. It can be really difficult to meal plan and buy the perfect amount of food when you don't know
I'm so in love with these unexpected varietals of beans. I just stumbled into this market. Once again proving the best way to find package free food is being open to exploring new places. And, training your eyes to see package free! When I first went zero waste my husband said, "The grocery store by where you work has a small bulk section." And, I was like, "No it doesn't!" Sure enough it did, I just wasn't looking for it. I've been asked in several DMs about where to find package free foods i
