This is the Lidice Memorial. On June 10, 1942, as punishment for the assassination of Reinhard Heydrich, Adolf Hitler had this Czech town obliterated. Every man was shot: every woman sent to a death camp; every child separated from their parent and killed or sent for "re-education". The town was burned to the ground, and on Hitlers orders, the ashes were burned again. Every trace was bulldozed away. Lidice ceased to exist. After the war, 153 women still found their way back to rebuild.
