Kelly Radcliff / Lazy Girl’s Garden Club/ Zinnia Lover on Instagram: "Look at those petals closely before you cut!🌸👇🏻 Are your zinnias finally here but you’re not sure when to cut them? ✂️ No worries! I don’t always follow these rules (not surprising, I know!) 😉. But when I do my zinnias last longer and are fuller! 🌸🙌🏻 So if you want to enjoy fuller blooms (and follow “the rules” 😂) here are a few helpful tips… 1. Make sure all petals are open. If you see tight little white ones near the center those are more petals that need to open! 2. Is the stem sturdy and not wobbly or fragile? It’s probably ready! 3. Cut your blooms in the morning for longer vase life. 🌼 4.Look for the “v” when you cut. (Branching of other stems) If you don’t see a “v” then cut above a set of leaves

Jenna Meadows | Meadows Flower Farm on Instagram: "The two planting options explained: Either way you pick- note that zinnias won’t tolerate cold temps! Wait to plant them until after your last frost date. A google search will tell you your area’s date! Two ways to start them: 1. You can plant seeds directly outside 1/4inch deep. 2. Or you can start them the same way in trays 3-4 weeks before you plan to plant outside. There is some thought that transplanting them can lead to less double petaled blooms, but I’ve only found this to be the case with the “zinderella” series. For the healthiest transplants, do not let them become root-bound in their trays. I find that young 3-4 week old seedlings transplant and bloom great! You may have to experiment with what works best in your area and
