Durga - a powerful and pretty goddess; fierce, she holds weapons in her hands. Created by the gods, with a face that reflected the light of Shiva; six arms from Vishnu; two feet from Brahma. Durga ("invincible" in Danskrit) was born to defeat Mahish, the "buffalo demon." She wages battle against suffering and injustice; brings kindness and harmony; feeds people and animals; rides tigers and lions. Her defeat of Mahish is still celebrated in India, a festival lasting ten days.
