There are many ways narcissists use to bait others into conflict. Some of them are: Dredging up incidents from the past, shaming, attacking your integrity, accusing you of lying/cheating, triangulating you against someone else. While the methods they use vary, their motivation for baiting others into conflict is for power & control. When a narcissist can antagonize others to the point of feeling or expressing strong emotions, they get a surge of abusive power.
