First off privet is hi in Russian and is ONLY used between close friends and in school, peers. Zdrastvue(te) is hello. The te is added to show the most respect and is used formally. Second. I am majoring in German and I have NEVER come across what they have here! It doesn't even look like it is of German decent linguistically.
