We ensure structural support every step of the way! The building with this project couldn’t handle the new roof system, this is self supporting of timber beams. Very strong and pinned the whole building back together.
The Haight is the Northwest Suburb's hidden gem! It's a unique private venue for weddings, elopements, civil unions, private parties, and corporate/non-profit events. Housed in the former Elgin Livery & Storage warehouse, The Haight defines raw elegance. The architectural elements from this historic 1890 building include timber beams, exposed brick, and soaring ceilings. All of which create a spacious yet cozy environment for guests to socialize.
The truth is I almost never use chisels. I shy away from hand tools and favor power tools for almost everything. This timber beam side table project gave me a good opportunity to pratice my chiseling skills to inset the metal connectors. This was part of my "Building Furniture From an Old Timber Beam" video. Our production team member Andrew hand finishes the housing on this massive 12x18 timber beam. Squaring out the rounded edges cut by our CNC machine is rewarding work! This is just one of the intricate processes behind our elaborate final product.
