If you're unfamiliar with Saint Brigid, she is the female patron saint of Ireland. While there's much fanfare about St. Patrick, stories about Saint Brigid are not as well known. Born a pagan, Brigid was eventually christened and went on to establish a monastery for men and women in Co. Kildare.
