This time of year Chesil Beach, nr. Portland develops a light pink glow as thrift (Armeria maritima) dominates the normally quite dull greeny edges. It is a rather surreal experience sitting amongst thousands of delicate perfectly formed flowers when for the rest of the year you wouldn't even know they were there!
