But just how far has the crew from "the town with pep" come from their innocent comic book days? PEP Comics, originally published by MLJ Magazines, is the series that introduced the world to Archie Andrews in 1941. Though it started as an anthology featuring various heroes like The Hangman and The Shield, the runaway success of Archie led MLJ to eventually focus the comic book on him and his Riverdale pals. PEP Comics continued under the Archie Comics imprint for decades, solidifying its place as a launchpad for the iconic teenager and his teenage universe.
