These surreal photos are not Photoshop inventions. Art Director Stephen McMennamy looks for simple backgrounds, takes two photographs, and then carefully arranges them together. The early #combophoto project shots were taken with an iPhone, but McMennamy recently bought a new camera to improve the quality, and occasionally uses a drone.

There's any number of sites on the internet where you can see more than your fair share of naked human flesh, but I'll wager that you've never seen the classic nude depicted from the angle chosen by New Zealand photographer John Crawford. The compositions range from the acutely subtle camouflage of a train track to the more in-your-face airport runway, but regardless of context the series has an instant impact that the photographer deserves nothing but credit for. Barbéy's surrealistic manipulations are not only works of retouching and airbrushing - he also sticks the negatives together, photographs them, uses other techniques to reach the concept vision he had in his mind first – but few are able to resist the gripping illusion.
