The Dakar Rally, formerly known as the “Paris–Dakar Rally”, is an annual off-road endurance event open both to amateurs and professionals and considered the world’s most important off-road rally.

On January 7, a group of 334 competitors began the 41st annual Dakar Rally: a punishing 10-day, 3,000-mile race across the Peruvian desert.

Pickup trucks still dominate the market but sports cars, supercars, family and commuter cars are all going off-road this year.
