The trams and vehicles date this picture to sometime in the early or mid 1930's. The tram system was swept away from this part of north London when trolleybuses were introduced around 1938. The tram on the far left of the picture is bound for Chalk Farm, where it will terminate. The tram just seen on the far right will probably follow the tracks round the curve into Camden Road. This is another photograph by the Belgian photographer Leonard Misonne and dates from 1899, it shows the view from Lower Regent Street junction with Waterloo Place looking south across Pall Mall to the Duke of York Column. The Guards Crimean War Memorial is in the centre and the Athenaeum Club is at top right. The building on the left was demolished in 1909 and replaced with Cox's Bank, that same building is now a hotel.
