This is a portrait of our client’s grandfather when he was in charge of a prison camp in France during WWII. It was painted by a German POW who was a jeweler before the war. After the war ended her grandfather helped the German POW and his family immigrate to the U.S. They became lifelong friends until their passing. The original painting was found in the attic - which caused the severe damage.
