Jenna ✨ Third Grade Teacher on Instagram: "Fraction garden 🌸 Fractions are my favorite third grade math topic! There are so many ways to make it interactive and visual. Today we made fraction flowers, where we partitioned a shape and shaded a fraction. The students then wrote the fraction of each color on the leaves! I believe I got this activity on TPT as a freebie a while back. I searched and couldn’t find the author or where I got it from. If you wanted to recreate, you could easily just print out shapes for students and give them @astrobrights paper like I did to make the leaves and stem. Fraction museum. Students bring in something to represent a fraction. OH MY GOSH! Must do! Fraction Project Ideas For Grade 4, Fraction Museum, Fraction Art 4th Grade, Classroom Fraction Games, Fraction Bar Model, Teaching Fractions, Fourth Grade Math, Math Instruction, Math Fractions

This was so cool! My students were so excited! The assignment: "Bring in something to represent a fraction." The results were so creative and it allowed me to see exactly what they knew about fraction numerators and denominators. Students had to present their "museum exhibit." Some had others guess their fractions, and others told why they chose the fraction they did. It was very successful! Here are some of the examples: 2/4 or 1/2 Storm Troopers 1/4 are bandaids 2/4 or 1/2 were fuzzy…

a ping pong table sitting in front of a white board with writing on it

This was the best idea I had last year to already have our most used models available. Place Value Chart, Area Model, Tape Diagrams/Fraction Models, Tenths/ Hundreths Chart & Number Line, and Interactive Number Lines (Using Magnetic Strips). We used to be on and poppin' during Math! Working problems all over the room.
