Fantasia Centaurette and Cherubs Production Cel (Walt Disney, 1940). The lovely Centaurettes in the "Pastoral Symphony" segment of Fantasia were all styled after "Freddie's Girls" sketches by Disney animator Fred Moore (1911 - 1952). This is a original hand-inked, hand-painted production cel of a female Centaurette being attended to by cherubs

Unfortunately he was unable to develop his great natural skills further, but we are grateful for the stunning and important work he did during Disney’s Golden Age.

To continue with Fred Moore art on this blog, here are a few more sketches that show his intuitive approach towards depicting the female form. Fred never spent much time in a life drawing class, in or outside the Disney Studio. He just had a knack for rhythm, balance and weight.
