December 1911 - King George V and Queen Mary at the Delhi Durbar, it was only ever held three times, in 1877, 1903, and 1911 at the apex of the British Empire. The 1911 Durbar was the only one that a British sovereign attended. The term was derived from the Mughal term durbar.

#OTD in 1911, King George V and Queen Mary were proclaimed as Emperor and Empress of #India at the Delhi Durbar. The 1911 Delhi Durbar was the only one attended by a British monarch(s). The event is sometimes regarded as the zenith of British rule in India.
