HAPPY NAVRATRI DAY 5 - SKANDAMATA Goddess assumes "Skandamata" avatar, represents a vulnerable mother who can become a thunderstorm whenever it is needed to safeguard her baby from any kind of danger.

Goddess Skandmata who is worshipped on the fifth day is also known as Panchami. Skandmata is a four-armed deity, who carries a lotus in two of her arms with a sacred Kamandalu and a bell in the other two. She also carries a little Kartikay on her lap and because of this Kartikay is also known as Skanda. She is seated on a lotus.

On this day Goddess Skandmata is worshipped. Skandamata is the Mother of Lord Karthikeya or Skanda. Skandamata is seen mounted on a lion carrying her divine child Karthikeya or Skanda. Hence she appears blissful and highly benevolent too. Those who worship Skandamata also get the blessings of Skanda seated on her lap. Those who worship Skandamata are blessed with fame, wealth and prosperity.
