1940s house plans were a reflection of a world changing rapidly after the hardships of the war years. Families desired simplicity and comfort, but they didn't want to sacrifice the charm.

Hannah Hall, from Nottingham, bought a 1920s-era house in 2016 and decided to unearth its old charm, after copping a working 1940s gas cooker for £16 on eBay.

The kitchen in this otherwise beautifully intact 1926 home was updated in the 1950's, but lacked the visual charm of the rest of the house. A mid-1920s green and white Wedgewood stove provides the inspiration and colors for this fully modern upgrade with a late '20s to early '30's look. -- from the board "1920s Kitchen remodel with Wedgewood stove"
