Bakhoor (Arabic بخور) is the Arabic name for scented wood-chips with a blend of traditional ingredients. The wood chips are soaked in fragrance oils and mixed with other natural ingredients including resin, ambergris, musk, sandalwood , and sometimes a number of different essential oils and are then burned atop charcoal in an incense burner called a mabkhara (Arabic, مبخر or مبخرة) to perfume interior spaces and clothing with its aromatic smoke.
