Period art suggests that the garment dates to the second quarter of the 15th century ( … okay, would have been the last days of Fiore at best!). It is one of two such extant examples of almost identical make that may have been kept in the city armoury. The second piece is on public display in the Lübeck Holsten Gate Museum. A third one from Stendal appears to have been lost, probably during or after WW II. Only an old photograph of it remains.
