AKVAREL - Ptáci
The Nicobar Pigeon (Caloenas nicobarica) is a pigeon found on small islands and in coastal regions from the Nicobar Islands, through the Malay Archipelago, to the Solomons and Palau. Nicobar Pigeons are hunted for food, and also for their gizzard stone which is used in jewelry. The species is also trapped for the local pet market, which is generally illegal. It is threatened by habitat loss due to logging, construction/development, and pollution, as well as by the introduction of predators.
