An indie film about a young couple from Chicago who goes home to NC to visit the husbands family after visiting a local artist for the wife's art gallery. Drama ensues as the family tries to adjust to the new family member and vice versa. It's kind of slow in more than one way. If it wasn't for Amy Adams role as the lovable Ashley, it would have been even more of a mess. She brings light and energy to the film. It's an alright film but could have been better.
Based on the true childhood experiences of Noah Baumbach and his brother, The Squid and the Whale tells the touching story of two young boys dealing with their parents' divorce in Brooklyn in the 1980s. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hkVexAnoI60
