I think of an iceburg when I look at this for some reason. It may be the overall shape and angular design of the letter, or it may have something to do with the cool colors used in the design. I'm not sure.
When discussing multi-sided objects or forms and 3-d drawing techniques, younger students are interested in drawing 3-dimensional letters but have little experience. They find it easier to take what they know about basic forms and apply that to lettering if they have some examples to look at.
