Bob Olinger -- Believed to have been taunting Billy the Kid when locked up, Bob Olinger was feeding prisoners at the Wortley Hotel when he heard a shot across the street, coming from the jail. He hurried over, and someone said, “Hello, Bob,” from above. Billy the Kid emptied both barrels of Olinger's shotgun at him. These were the last words he heard. – Courtesy Robert G. Fort Sumner - Pete Maxwell House Peter Maxwell (1848-1898) - The only son of New Mexico land baron, Lucien B. Maxwell, Peter was living at Fort Sumner during the reign of Billy the Kid and it was at his home that the Kid was shot by Pat Garrett in 1881. This was the home of both Peter and his father. Tom O'Folliard (c. 1858 – December 19, 1880) was the best friend of outlaw William Bonney, a.k.a. Billy the Kid. Both were members of the Regulators during the Lincoln County War. After the war ended, they became cattle rustlers, forming the Bonney's gang with fellow outlaws Dave Rudabaugh and Charlie Bowdre.
