Seckman High School | Writing Well and Living Well for Living Well Village | Students held class meetings to discuss centers addressing community needs and decided to help a nonprofit community camp for kids. After calling the camp's founder, students discussed how best to meet the camp's needs. Students wrote persuasive letters to local businesses asking them for help and to increase awareness of the camp's community contribution. Students reflected, journaled, and wrote thank you notes. Students became so interested and involved with this issue that they turned it into a “global call-to-action project.” They traveled across states to Memphis, TN to present their cause to '92 Nobel Peace Laureate Rigoberta Menchu Tum of Guatemala and to hundreds of high school students during the 2011 PEACE JAM conference.
