St Bartholome, Martyr chrétien écorché vif. Le "drapé" qui l'entour est sa peau... Marco d’Agrate, 1562 (Duomo cathedral, Milan-Italy). Déjà très "gore et réaliste" au XVI e !

Graveyard Art || I cant help but imagine a paranormal story here. One where she will awaken from her entombed state after her true love redeems her from some bad dude, you know the one where the protagonist embarks on an epic journey, finding friends on his way who will aid him, many fight scenes, almost dying of course who can forget the many flashbacks of happy time with said statute

Almost hated to put this in "Grave Beauty" but I guess it is beautiful to some. Angel of Death used to be depicted this way...later it became more common to be a kind angel helping with the transition to death. Some say this scary depiction served to keep living people on the straight and narrow! (Cemetery de Montjuic in Barcelona)
