The threats had become too much to handle, and Paula knew it was time to leave. But worry over what would happen to her cats, Penny and Stella, consumed her.

Paula waited to leave for a domestic abuse shelter because most of them do not take pets. After weeks of talking to officials at one crisis animal shelter, two spaces opened up for her cats, giving her the courage to leave.

Her situation and others like it prompted a handful of Twin Cities organizations to work together to expand a list of volunteer foster homes willing to quickly take in pets for peo

What matters most to co-owners Caitlin O’Neil and Lauren Richards is that a guest can walk into Tropes and Trifles and find a love story that mirrors their own life. 

“A lot of people don’t understand the genre if they don’t read it,” Richards said. “We like to say, if you’re a mystery reader, no one gets mad when you discover the killer at the end of the book, but in our stories, people find love.”

The Duluth Cheerio Challenge asked residents to donate cereal or money that would be divvied up among local food shelves and other similar organizations. The call to action followed an interview Cargill, of the family of billionaires, gave the Wall Street Journal about her plans for the 20 some parcels of land she has purchased on Park Point over the past few years.

“12P/Pons–Brooks is a periodic comet with an orbital period of 71 years. Comets with an orbital period of 20 to 200 years are referred to as Halley-type comets. It is one of the brightest known periodic comets, reaching an absolute visual magnitude of about 5 in its approach to perihelion. Comet Pons-Brooks was definitely discovered at Marseilles Observatory in July 1812 by Jean-Louis Pons, and on its next appearance in 1883 by William Robert Brooks. There are ancient records of comets that may have been 12P/Pons–Brooks.

The Winn Tee Pee Cottage Motel in Winona is long gone. So is the Cassius Restaurant in downtown Minneapolis, whose flamboyant owner was the first Black man to secure a liquor license in the segregated city. Bill “Bojangles” Robinson and the Harlem Globetrotters once bunked at St. Paul’s Wilson Villa, now a modest home that forlornly overlooks Interstate 94.

Twenty-one of Minnesota’s Green Book sites still are standing, but most of the others now are parking lots, housing complexes, apartment and office buildings.

NOAA has stated Multiple CMEs from 08 and 10 Feb are likely to cause G1-G2 (Minor-Moderate) geomagnetic storm conditions on 12-14 Feb. If you have never experienced the Northern Lights, make sure you are well prepared and well informed and how to best put yourself in the best location at the correct time. NOAA has stated Multiple CMEs from 08 and 10 Feb are likely to cause G1-G2 (Minor-Moderate) geomagnetic storm conditions on 12-14 Feb. If you have never experienced the Northern Lights, make sure you are well prepared and well informed and how to best put yourself in the best location at the correct time.
