Architectural Slides You Have to See to Believe
Built in 1915 by architects obsessed with Lisbon’s expansive saltwater pools, Carpa Olivera emerged as a concrete-clad community center in Mazatlan, Mexico. Deserted after a calamitous hurricane in 1954, the land was in danger of being swallowed by the sea—until architecture firm Colectivo Urbano stepped in. The crown jewel of the recent remodel is a concrete spiral slide that descends into the saltwater waves of Olas Altas beach.
