FRIESIAN - The Friesian (also Frisian) is a horse breed originating in Friesland, Netherlands. Although the breeds conformation resembles that of a light draft horse, Friesians are graceful and nimble for their size. During the Middle Ages, it is bel
developed as a Russian cavalry horse. Named for Marshall Budyonny, who oversaw the breeding program using Don, Chernomov, and Thoroughbred lines. After the cavalry was disbanded, the horses began to be used as sport horses.
