Margaret Thatcher is the first woman to be Prime Minister of Great Britain. She was born Margaret Roberts on October 13, 1925 Grantham, Lincolnshire, England. She was the daughter of grocer and a dressmaker. Her father was involved in local politics. Early in her life she decided to be a member of the Parliament.
Margaret Thatcher Loved and hated in equal measure for her controversial policies, the Linconshire-born Iron Lady is a grocer's daughter who graduated from Oxford University before becoming a research chemist and then a barrister. She became Britain’s first - and, to date, only - female Prime Minister in 1979 and is the country's fifth longest serving leader.
