Hades (also known as Haides, Aides, Aidoneus, or Ἁδης) was King of the Underworld and God of death and the dead. He presided over funeral rites and defended the rights of the dead. Hades was also the God of the hidden wealth of the earth presiding over its treasures. From the fertile soil with nourished the seed-grain, to the mined wealth of gold, silver and other metals, he reigned over them all. Upon his birth, Hades was devoured by Kronos along with four of his siblings. Zeus later...:
