The Philippines has a unique biodiverse marine habitat. However Blast Fishing is reported to continue in some areas. A study conducted in 2002 reported destructive fishing methods had caused the degradation of about 70% of Philippine coral reefs. Reef destruction wipes out the fish populations. In 2012 the director of the Philippine Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources declared an "all-out war" against dynamite fishing and can be penalized by 5-10 years of imprisonment. Donations…

When I think of beautiful reefs with lots of colorful fish and soft corals, Fiji always comes to mind. Bathed in cooler nutrient rich currents, its coral gardens and other marine life flourish. No wonder it is known as The Soft Coral Capital of the World. Colorful reefs, shallow lagoons, sharks, rays, pelagics, wall diving, white sandy beaches and friendly locals all add up to a great destination for divers. One dive in Fiji and you will understand why this natural resource needs…

Diving along the Birds Head Peninsula is only fair at best, and the reef system cannot compare to that of Raja Ampat. This is some video clips from my recent trip to Alor, Wetar and Eastern Flores onboard the Dewi Nusantara. These clips mainly represent the Muck and Macro portion of the diving. The reef and fish schools along with the topside video will follow this. I hope you enjoy the amazing underwater creatures of that area of Indonesia.

The Sugar Wreck off the Northwest End of Grand Bahama Island is one of the best shallow water wrecks I have ever visited. It sets on the White Sand Ridge in about 17 feet of water and is loaded with schools of grunts, snappers, goatfish and every other caribbean fish you can think of. I am told it sunk during a hurricane about 100 years ago and was a 330 foot, four-masted steel sailing vessel which was carrying a cargo of molasses and sugar from Central America. It has abundant sea life…
