When you hear the words "golden ratio," you may remember something about a spiral or some guy named Fibonacci. You might also recall a specific number from geometry class—1:1.618. The golden ratio is based on a sequence of numbers that Fibonacci discovered. As the numbers in the sequence increase, the ratio between two adjacent numbers gets closer to—you guessed it—1:1.618. Not only does this ratio occur in a sequence of numbers, it's prevalent in the natural world, too. Many people believe…

Here you will find our List of Geometric Shapes for kids. There is a large collection of 2d and 3d shapes, along with some of the key properties each shape posseses.

Student pentomino sets help students deepen geometric understanding. In this activity students practice transformations including slides (translations), flips (reflections), and turns (rotations). This set includes 12 pages of pentominoes with 8 on each page. Each type of pentomino can be printed on its own sheet of color paper. Included is an info sheet with the names of the shapes and the names of transformations. There are also two pages of pentomino designs for students to explore.
